About the Band

Tak Maeda conducts
Conductor, Tak Maeda

We are an intermediate level community wind ensemble made up of members from nineteen to ninety-seven years young. We play a variety of genres and levels, from classical to jazz to show tunes to contemporary, with all stops in between.

We perform a number of times each year, sometimes in the music room and sometimes out in the community.

The band provides an opportunity for adults to enjoy playing and performing music together and to participate in sustaining a self-supporting, amateur, musical organization.

Come out and give us a try. Just show up at the band room with your instrument about fifteen minutes before 8:00 PM, introduce yourself to Tak, and we will find you a spot. You can also come and observe, but it is more fun to play.

Our History

In the spring of 1969 a group of West Vancouver residents met to consider the formation of an adult band as an extension of the existing West Vancouver Band. This resulted in the formation of the West Vancouver Adult Band. The first rehearsal was held in the Irwin Park Elementary School band room at 8:30pm on May 6th, 1969.

The band provides an opportunity for adults to enjoy playing and performing music together and to participate in sustaining a self-supporting, amateur, musical organization.

Today, the West Vancouver Concert Band is going strong, rehearsing weekly and performing regularly.
